Short getaway from Phuket. Where to go?

  • Pontare

I work and live in Patong, a rather uncharming place to say the least. Now I have a three day weekend coming up. Any suggestions on places reachable in maximum three hours from here that would be something completely different?

Go to one of the islands around Phuket , several of them have bungalows or rooms for rent. Koh Nakha Yai is just a few kilometers away from the pier in Ao Por on the east coast and Koh Maphrao (Coconut Island) is close to Phuket town.

Both these islands is quiet and si less than 1 hours travel away for you.

Or you could go to one of the islands south of Phuket, out of Rawai. Koh Lon and several other islands there have accomondation.

From the Pier in Bang Rong on Phuket's eastcoast you can get a ferry to Koh Yao Noi and stay there for a few days....................

    Go to a quiet island.
You can rent a longtailboat and go to one of the islands with accomondation around Phuket, or drive down to Krabi and go to one of the islands off the coast there.

Try Koh Ko Kao. The pier is just before Takuapa , which is around a 2 hour bus ride from Phuket. Then get a longtail boat, which you can even take a scooter on. This is around 30 Baht and is a short 15 minute journey.

"Uncharming"??? I heard it had some decent nightlife and a budding salsa dance scene. Doesn't sound so bad. Guess we have different definitions of charm.
