Hi Friends............
We are currently ( February 1st, 2012 ) in Ranong, and about to travel to Ko Phayam & Ko Chang. As we don't carry a Lonely Planet guide, we would prefer to ask other travellers, where they would recommend to stay on these islands. If possible somewhere clean for about 400 baht a night would suit us ( a european couple ) Any body been there lately ?
Thanks !
I was on this island for 11 days... a few weeks ago. I stayed at Bann Suan Kayoo for 200 baht a day, but for a couple I'd suggest Coconut Beach resort (better beach area) or Hornbill Hut - (they both have websites) - they are on the busy beach (Aow Yai - waves), more restos, eating options... Bann Suan also has another place on the quiet beach (calm water) for around 400 I think, but there are less services on that beach & you'll need to rent a scooter to get around. Motor bike taxis will meet you at the pier for transport.
In Ranong I suggest Palmy Home, fan rooms for 250b, very clean. Palmy_home@yahoo.com - near the market street, but not on it, so it's quiet. very friendly there.

There are a fair few places on Ko Phayam reviewed here on Travelfish too (in case you haven't seen those already).
