I know that US citizens only get a 15-day visa if you are crossing from Malaysia to Thailand by land, but I need a 30-day visa. Is it possible to get a Thai visa in Georgetown on Penang. I'll be there for 4 days, but I'm assuming I could just pay for rush service if necessary.
Also, does anyone know the cost? I know it used to be free for a Thai visa last year, but I haven't seen anything about that recently.
Thanks for any information.

there are NO 30-day advance visa-its 60 days. ANY tr-agent and guesthse along Chulia can help you with it-their fee is less as 4 taxifares to get to consul and come back. Cost should be equiv. of 1000 THB now-say 100/120 MYR. Mostly get back next day-late=too late for the train to TH.
and 1 more time; you do NOT get a 15 day VISA-if nothing prearranged, but a 15-day EXEMPT Permit. A visa-just ask anyone who ever tried to visit your country-is much more cumbersome.
