Riont you will be going April 13th? The Full Moon Party is on the 6th.
I'm staying at a resort as the hostels didn't appeal to me. Lots of places have long minimum stay requirements so I chose B52 Resort. It's pricey, but I know it'll be awesome!

I've never been to the full moon party. I've read mixed reviews, but figure I'm gonna give it a shot. It sounds pretty crazy.
That's too bad time2fly. The 1/2 moon will probably be good tho.

And as far as staying at koh Phangan is concerned I haven't really decided. I will see once I reach. Not planning to stay there for 4 - 5 days as most of the Hotels/Resorts/hostels are asking to book the place for at least 4 days.

Yup during the full moon party there are minimum stays. I'm staying there for 4 nights but I'll do day trips to Koh Samui, take a cooking class etc.
I'm from Canada.

I'd so some research and pick a few places that interest you. Not sure if you'll have troubles finding a place to stay due to the full moon party.

I will be really grateful to you if you can help me in finding a place to stay. I have pretty much done all the research that was possible from my end in finding out a decent place to stay, but whatever I found, was asking for a minimum stay of 4 days which is not possible for me. Hence, I was advised to go there and then look for a place to stay.
I have no clue as to how bad will it be in terms of number of people visiting and availability of places to stay.

All the places I found had a minimum 4 night stay to. The only thing you could do is stay on another island and take the ferry after the party. I've heard bad things about this though. I guess they overload the ferries and it's not safe. Maybe just stay for 4 nights and do day trips to other islands during your stay.

I think staying on some other Island and taking the ferry would not be a good Idea. I am aware that a lot of travelers do that, but somehow, it doesnt appeal to me much and also as you mentioned, its not safe too.
I will try and find something when I reach Koh Phangan. Hopefully Ill get a decent place to stay as I am reaching Koh Phangan on the 5th.
Lets hope for the best. Fingers crossed.

I am finishing up a tour with intrepid on April 2 and then may had over for the party. But like you posted the hotels close to the party want a five night stay. I may play it close and just hope the ferry over the day of the party and pull an all nightier, not like anyone going was going to sleep any way.

Oh ya that could work too. You could take the ferry back in the morning. Just have a place booked elsewhere for the next day so you can sleep for a bit.

You don't have to book a 4 night min, stay, All the places write that on their websites, but if you're away from Haad Rin on a nice beach. This does not apply .There are taxis all night long to bring you back to your beach. Also you can just show up and avoid those stupid overpriced places a few days in advance.

So far; Carnival in Brazil, Marti Gra in New Orleans, Fantasy Fest in Key West, Bull Run in Pamplona, Junkanoo inBahamas, Saint Patrick’s Day in Chicago and New Years in Times Square. Hey Guys,
I ve decided to reach Phangan on the 4th. This way ill be staying till the 7th and will manage to stay for 3 days and fulfill the criteria of Minimum stay period. Will be doing day trips to various islands around Phangan all this while.
A week left for me to reach Thailand. Really excited!

Hi there, ive just arrived in shumphon and hope to catch a boat to start island touring tomorrow. Defo going to the party and looking for people to go with! Ive been staying in a hotel for the past 4 nights in Bangkok, runnnmg round the city seeing as much as possible & havnt really met anyone apart from some nice on peeps on a tour who went up North now. Im a bit worried i wont meet many people on the islands now staying in huts alone. Im from uk and turned 30 so of similar age, would be wicked to meet up at some point.

cool guys, the people im with at the moment will leave before the full moon and then its not going to be that easy to meet others staying in Bugalows on your own, although theres always hostels. Lets get a group of solo travellers together for the party

Sorry I haven't responded lately. Been getting used to Bangkok and I could really meet up with some people. Having a hard time with this traveling alone. It's not easy for me. Hey Guys!
Feels good to see so much of excitement and so many people interested in going to the FMP.
@escape4ever: I think its a good idea to mail every one so that every one can meet each other before heading to the party. As I see most of us are reaching a day or two in advance, it'll be better if we meet up before the FMP.
@James: I can understand man. Its really weird to party alone, but its good that through this forum, we can all meet up and then we wouldn't have to party alone.
I suggest if we add each other up on Facebook, it would be better to coordinate and stay in touch.

Hmm I just did a google map and it says we are 33 mins apart if we drive. Doesn't seem like we are close at all. I'm quite far from where the party is as I don't want to be close to all the noise.
