I'm in Bangkok and will be leaving to go kickboxing on Koh Tao for a month. What is the best way to travel there. I assume any method is going to be pretty bad.
Another thing, it looks like quite a small island. How big is it? Do you need a motorbike or could you just walk across the island?

I have walked into most of the bays - but Mango Bay in the north is a real stretch. A motorbike makes it so much easier to move around.
Very hilly - some of the slopes are a major effort so if you walk you need to be fit - or if you aint, you soon will be.
Lomprayah gets good reviews for its KSR bus/fst ferry link via Chumpon.
Perhaps more comfortable is sleeper train to Chumpon followed by a ferry.
