Hi, We are getting married and want to do it in Southern Thailand. In July 2008. So we have lots of planning time... Am wondering if you have any helpful hints about getting hitched in Thailand....
Cheers
We we're married in Bangkok -- so not quite as idyllic as a Thai island, but it was still pretty great. Only real tip would be to make sure you get the paperwork all sorted out as well -- you'll need to go to local office to register the marriage and they'll give you some paperwork which you'll need to get translated and notarised etc -- we did all that in Bangkok -- took about a day.
Which island you thinking of? We've been to two weddings on Ko Mun Nork -- it's a private island so you need to hire the entire island -- kind of sounds good to the friends back home ;-)

Hi again,
We are actually now going to do the official ceremony and signing forms and things in Australia before we go. That means we don't have to waste time in BKK going to the embassy and such. So we can have more time having fun and spending time with our guests.
And more time afterwards when we want to head to Myanmar...
Anyway, I have narrowed the search to Phuket (NOT Patong though, near Surin), Ko Yao Noi, Ko Lanta or Khao Lak.
The site is invaluable to do research...
cheers, ALISON

I got married here last year- on Lanta island in southern Thailand. It's becoming very popular here now-
we did a traditional thai style with 9 Buddhist monks. but hubby is Thai so it was easy for me coz he did all the planning.. A popular place here on Lanta is KO Bubu a tiny island off the coast that you could have to yourself-- Google Thai weddings- it's a huge growing market. I think your first ?/answer is where? once you decide start using google or posting on other boards-- a good resource is http://www.thaivisa.com there is ladies section.. try posting there
