Hi guys,
Does anyone know of a day time option from bangkok to koh Samui koh phangan? We are doing the night journey from chiang Mai to Bangkok and aren't really interested in staying around bangers for the day waiting for the night train. Any help much appreciated.
Cheers, Jen

There is an 8:05am "Sprinter" train to Surat Thani that gets in at 4:45pm but trains often arrive late by an hour or more. Also the Surat Thani train station is way out in Phunphin district then it's about 90km bus/van to the ferry port at Don Sak so unlikely you'd get there in time for the last ferry (usually 6pm). I also doubt a bus would get you there in time, so it's either a day in Bangkok or an overnight somewhere around Surat Thani (there are bungalows right next to the ferry terminal at Don Sak, but it's absolutely dead there after dark). Bangkok to the islands same day very unlikely unless you fly.
