As you can see here, the east side is generally better this time of year.

The lower gulf islands (Ko Samui/Phangan/Tao) have the better weather May-Sep which is rainy season for the west coast. Go East!

If you want a shortcut to finding the very best Phuket island resort andhotels, the first thing you need to do is filter your search using certaincategories. Phuket houses some of the rowdiest and quietest resorts inThailand. Lively Phuket beach hotels and resorts are mostly found in Phuket'swest coast, while quieter Phuket holiday villas and resorts are predominant inthe east coast and the neighboring islands between Krabi and Phuket. The eastcoast also offers some of the most exclusive Phuket holiday villa and resorts, whichcan mostly be found near the Phang Nga Bay National Park and surroundingislets. Phuket only offers world-class accommodations. There are a lot offive-star Phuket beach hotels which provide excellent facilities and services.Tourists who want a taste of Thailand's local culture often go out of theircomfort zone and traverse the seas to step on some of the isolated isletsaround Phuket.

Man we're just getting soaked here in the NE right now. A front has moved through, and it's been continuusly overcast and raining more than 12 hours out of each day for three days. It's getting on my nerves!

Just spent 3 weeks travelling and it rained longer than 3 hrs once and another day it rained for 30 mins. One fine day after another.
Rain isnt a big issue unless you are unlucky or head to the wettest part of the country which doesnt apply to many islands. phuket/krabi usually only get short showers.
