I understand there are news of a strike in Bangkok. Does anybody know what the status quo is? I am arriving in BKK next Saturday. Thanks

News to me. There was some protesting over the weekend, but that has finished up (for now) -- not sure about a strike -- do you have a news link for it?

I heard something about nurses going on strike last week but haven't heard anything about it since. Are you sure you mean "strike" and not "protest"? If so, what kind of strike?

Meaning protest lately? it ended and all gone. All they are hired , not a volunteer. So just stay away from The Royal Plaza ,near the zoo it's okay.

Thanks guys. My friend told me about this "strike" but she does not speak good English and maybe she meant "protest" instead.

Schools in the south have been shut down. Maybe this is the strike they meant? http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/313547/hundreds-of-thai-schools-shut-over-militant-attacks-2
