Hi all, long time reader but first time poster! my boyfriend and are are flying into Bangkok next Octiober & flying out of Kuala Lumpur & we're looking for helo finding the best places to visit.

We have 3 weeks & so far have been thinking of this route
bangkok - phuket/Koh yaoi Yao/Koh Yao Noi - Koh Lanta - Koh Lipe - Langkwai/Kuala Lumpur - Redang - Borneo(?)
we definitely like the island holiday, a nice beach a nice hotel/resort but usually shy away from over crowded places & we're not afraid to 'rough it' (as in we dont need 4/5 star hotels but one or 2 might be nice if budget allows!!!!)
Our main concern is that transport might be difficult seeing as though its the off season & we want to enjoy our trip rather than rush from place to place
any advice or recommendations or comments are appreciated
Thanks in advance

I think you'll find transport will be easy enough to sort out once you're here. You're going to areas that are all set up for tourism so there will be someone nearby with a boat to take you where you want!
Bangkok to Phuket is easy - plane. You can then island hop on boats, though you'll need to go back to the mainland to get a bus south if you want to go to Koh Lipe. From Lipe you can get a boat to Langkawi and then the rest seems straightforward enough.

Wikitravel.org has excellent guides on where to stay, what to do, how to get there, what it'll cost etc., for practically anywhere these days. Here's the article for Ko Lanta for example: http://wikitravel.org/en/Koh_Lanta
(This site creates an automatic link for some destinations, but doesn't parse the one posted by the user unfortunately, so you need to copy/paste the other one I'm afraid)
