Hi does anybody know of any decent/cheap accommodation in Pattaya we will be staying their 2nights from the 29th April.
    where backpacking so nothing fancy,
I have looked on tripadvisor.com, most places seem to start around 700thb. Also what are some must do's while in pattaya? Any help appreciated.

Friend of mine stays at this place because it's cheap: 450 baht a night. It is in a naughty section of town though, and the bar downstairs is naughty as well.

Goto soi 'honey inn'. Right next to the 'sawasdee' hotel (in that same soi) there are a few guesthouses. One of them rents rooms for like 350 baht, with bathroom and double bed. Also there are several similar priced guesthouses. You can also try to bargain them down a bit. 'Soi honey inn' is called so, because of the honey inn hotel which isn't too expensive either.

This is one of the better, more chilled soi's that are great for hanging out and sipping beer.Nearby there's shopping malls, cheap food, and also the beach, within 2 blocks.

The honey inn is either different or has been upgraded. Still, on soi honey inn (soi 11), you'll find 300-350 baht places, some even cheaper. Take a look, and always try bargaining for say 2 nights stay.

EDIT: yes, honey Inn has been upgraded. I think i stayed in the 'new star' hotel or one next door, but it's now 400 baht.
