Hi everyone,
Has anyone been to Phuket, Ko Phi Phi or Ko Lanta in the past few days or weeks? If so then perhaps you could let me know what the weather was like? Did it rain everyday and for how long did it rain? I'm weighing up west versus east :D
Many thanks,
David

West and East are much the same in my opinion. Some days it rains and some days it doesn't. I'm half way between East and West at the moment and there hasn't been any rain for a few days now.

Thanks for the information.
I have been in southern Thailand near Krabi province for the past two weeks or so. It was often overcast but was clear in the mornings and we had a few wonderful days. However, the last couple of days saw some very heavy rain so maybe the wet season is now getting into full swing?

Hey wozza,
I don't know about the weather on Phi Phi and Lanta at the moment but I can offer my own experience of Lanta. I was there mid-August and was rather disappointed. Almost all the accommodation at Long Beach was closed, the sea was rough and the beach completly empty. We took an expensive taxi down to Ao Kaniang (sp? it is down south) and found a little more life there. However it seemed to be a place built for tourists (i.e. not that nice) but without the tourists. It felt dead, the service was consistently terrible, even rude, and the people much less friendly than elsewhere. We found one very nice bar on the north-side but lots of places were closed.
Sorry to be so negative but I regretted not going to Khao Sok national park or spending more time exploring Ao Nang near Krabi.
Phi Phi was full of tourists and Tao Soi (sp again?) was fairly repulsive. Instead we took a longtail round to Ao Koh To and stayed at the marvelous bungalows there - more isolated but much nicer than anything at Ao Ranti. If you are on Phi Phi and looking for an isolated quite beach all to your selves then go to Koh Toh Bungallows - the owner is lovely and called Porn and see will organise cheap and flexible trips to all the sourounding islands. There is also a reef 50m offshore. Lovely place.
Sorry to go on!
David
