Is it posible to buy antimalaria drugs in a Bangkok pharmacy without a doctor's prescription?

I believe you can but not 100% sure, might depend on what type of antimalarial. Some people recommend buying them before hand as there are lots of fake or old drugs sold in that part of the world.

On a side note, where are you travelling? Shouldn't need it in Thailand and even in Laos and Cambodia should be fine if you are sticking to the main cities/attractions.

Wearing protection from mosquitos is far more important imo, long sleeves, long pants, bug spray etc. Dengue Fever is far more prevalent then Malaria and believe me it packs a good punch itself(spent a week recovering in Vientiane...). There is nothing you can do about it except avoid mosquito bites.

some, not all.
As above: the general advice for TH is to not take pills, but to protect. The ''danger'' in the common tourist areas is minimal to nil-those pesky mozzies need clean water, not so readily available.
The best and latest pills-the expensive ones, are NOT for sale or even to get anywhere in TH, as they want to keep them for those whoe really need it and to prevent resistance due to the overworried and ignorant types who take them without thinking.
TH BTW has a very effective and free treatment service if it, very, very rare, indeed happens to be real malaria.
