Hello,
We'll be in Thailand in January for two weeks. We plan to spend about 1 week up North (Chiang Mai/Pai/Chiang Rai) and the other week visiting the beaches. Any suggestions on whether we should visit Phuket/Krabi or Ko Samui? Thanks!

Hello olsons,
In January you can select either East or West coast because weather is good in both places.
If you will stay in Phuket you can visit nearby places - Phi-Phi, Racha Yai, Pha Nga bay (007-island, sea gipsy village), get trip to Similan islands etc.
If you will stay in Samui you can also visit nearby Koh Phangan, Koh Tao (real paradise for divers and nature/relax lovers!) and marine parks.
Of course you can read additional info in TravelFish guides:

Krabi (IMO) is the most beautiful out of the 3. After that, samui and then phuket. Phuket is a rip off (IMO) compared to other places and is very touristy.
If you stay in samui check out Lami.
