Hi. I need to get to Koh Samui on March 29. I want to book a flight now. Which is nearer and more convenient going to Koh Samui, through Bangkok or Phuket? There is no direct flight from Manila. Also, can you recommend an economy airline going to koh Samui? Thank you!

Manila to Bangkok and then either Bangkok Airways to Ko Samui (1st and last flight of the day cheaper) or for a cheaper but longer trip, Bangkok to Surat Thani (a few airlines fly this) and then ferry to Samui..

But isnt it Phuket is much nearer to Koh Samui than bangkok? What are the odds if I fly to Phuket from Manila and then Phuket to Koh Samui?

You'll more likely get a cheap flight from Manila to Bangkok than Manila to Phuket -- I don;t know who flies Manila to Phuket...

The Phuket to Samui flight is only served by Bangkok Airways as far as I know, you're looking at about 3,000 baht and the trip takes 55 minutes -- I think Bangkok to Samui takes about one hour and ten minutes... so overall not much diffence between the two -- the difference will be on the inbound leg from Manila.

    Cheers

Cebu Pac flies MNL to Phuket every MWF. There are promo fares for 99 Pesos on March 28 and 31. Just don't know how long that promo fare will last.

Just today flew MNL-BKK on J5=CebPac. Those fares are without all the taxes-expect to pay at least about 40-50US$ AND the 550 PHP to pay in MNL for terminal-use-fee. As CP has joined with TR=TIger, THAT site is much, much user friendly and should give same results.
OR fly-change in KUL-see what AirAsia+Firefly can bring.
