online bus tickets - did someone book it before by mobile phone?

Posted by GuideLion on 6/3/2014 at 01:10

I came across the website of www.12go.asia and saw they have all the bus routes and schedules in there. Youu can even buy a ticket with your phone. Do you know if the schedules are accurate and did someone have experience with it? I installed the app on my iPhone and it looks really useful.

It's pretty good -- and this post reminds me I owe them an email.

Thanks

as for TH its very, very limited -most are view only and not book- and again-I really do not understand why all those newbees here refuse to believe this world is far bigger as the www covers-there are MANY more buses and companies also serving these and dozens of other routes where you just turn up and buy a ticket. Or is that because of their precious all singing+dancing mobuy smartiefones that would otherwise keep empty? or their meticulous in monthes of evenings spend on making itineraries, that due to their refusal to simply open a guidebook all turn out the same as those guidebooks suggest-and that then immediately crash as they hit their first Thai girl/boyfriend?
LC could have written this-except that his world seems limited to Khaosarn-banging and never leave soi 4/nana
Also the pity for all those new Chinese tourists-they all seem to have maps and BKK-busroutes on their mobuys. And then they find the maps are inaccurate and the buses all go different routes due to the protest sites-555555

Why would you? At the Mo Chit Bus Station there are 50 windows selling tickets to Chiang Mai

captainbkk would you please clarify the "very very" limitation in 12Go ? I have relation to 12Go site - would be great feedback we're collecting to improve services.

12Go covers >110 companies, over half are legal official companies in Thailand (nothing to do with Khao San)
Data is live and accurate. We have chinese (traditional and simplified) and 8 other languages.
All data is free. We're making about ~11-31 THB on a seat, so cheating is out of the formula.

Almost complete coverage for long haul buses, except for most low tech companies. Some minivans. Vast coverage for ferries and combo tickets. Working on railways, added flights (Lao, and Nok coming). Over a thousand stations served in Thailand. Some coverage is not sellable but one may do all planning as data is live. Where possible we do connections (minivan+bus+ferry).

Please let me know what excatly do you mean with "very very" limited ?

vbeck : it's not 50, but about ten windows on both floors shared by few companies. Most of them are in the system, except for Sombat and Bohoso. I myself never book, too - because I have all my time, but most people like to have the trip planned and seats guaranteed especially if they only come for a week for vacation and there is no space for unexpected situations.
