Hey Irish,
How are you arriving in Bangkok and where are you off to next after spending your three days there? Also, what types of things are you planning to do in Bangkok? (temples and tourist sites, shopping, relaxing, etc.) Once you know those things, it makes it easier to decide in which part of town to stay, and then it is fairly easy to pick a good guesthouse or hotel from the listings on the website here.

budget, cheap and cheerfull! guesthouse, hotel, not a dorm!
just gonna do the tourist things before we hit the islands, we'll be back in bangkok later on in the trip!
