ANDAMAN COAST IN JULY

Posted by charlottem92 on 20/5/2014 at 08:20

IS IT WORHT IT?

Or is everything closed because of the 'bad' weather? I stayed on the Gulf of Thailand for 2/3 weeks in july last year, and had amazing weather. But would love to explore the other side too.

Hi,

it's rain season here in Khao Lak during that time. That means it could rain once in a while or the whole day ... you never know ;-). The weather conditions changed a lot during the last years (like everywhere in the world) and therefore you can't get a proper weather forecast.

Trips to Khao Lak National Park, Khao Sok National Park, Phang Nga Bay National Park and Phi Phi Islands run on a daily basis.

Some of the restaurants and shops are closed and not so many tourists are around. Nothing is crowded, everybody has time for a small talk ... actually the best time of the year apart from the rain.

BUT there are no trips available to Koh Similan, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai & Koh Surin because these national parks close every year from 16.05. till 15.10. due to the monsoon time.

For me personally, it is the best time to visit this area of Thailand, you will have so much more fun in the rain then having sun and lots of tourists. Especially as the seasons changed over the years , Rainy Season is not so rainy anymore. I am living long term close to the Khao Sok National Park which is known to be the rainiest part of Thailand, but we have maybe 1 hour rain showers in evening. If you are interested in paying a visit I linked some information about the Khao Sok Lake
Best wishes

Jay

Agree, I had most fun in rainy season. Prices are low, beaches are quiet and people give you a little more attention.

The rainfall is quite predictable if you keep an eye on it and only last for an hour, sometimes more, and if you are unlucky the whole day. But you will have nice and sunny days also. If you go by scooter in the afternoon, aways watch the clowds. I almost drownded once on my scooter while getting caught in an amazing rain shower. Like a waterfall :-)

Maybe not the best time of year for scuba diving and boat trips, but great for enjoying the beach and going to spa while rain falls. The spa do have some good packages that time of year.

Bars are not crowded and you can go their without fighting for a seat and listen to live music. Restaurant prices are low and you get sometimes nice special offers.
