Hi,
Firstly - this website rocks!
I am planning to spend 4 days around phuket including phi-phi in mid June 06. Can anyone recommend good half, full or 2-day activities and would I have to book that online prior to arrival over there? Is it advisable to hire a scooter/bike to travel around phuket considering I am neither reckless nor careless.
I am travelling with a friend from Samui and would are interested in outdoor activities like elephant treks, snorkelling etc.
I still haven’t planned anything am also looking from experienced travellers on pointers of how long should a savvy traveller should spend out of 4-5 days in either phuket or phi-phi province etc.

Welcome to Travelfish and glad to hear you like the site!
In Phuket and Phi Phi there's no need to book tours and trips in advance -- most travel agents will run stuff like elephants riding and snorkelling trips on a daily basis.
One of the most popular options out of Phuket is Sea Canoe trips into Phang Nga Bay -- there are a lot of providers, with John Gray Sea Canoe remaining the original and one of the best.
From Phi Phi most do a day trip to Phi Phi Leh (where The Beach was filmed) and "around-the-island" snorkelling trips.
No shortage of ways to fill a few days!
