Which trekking in northern Thailand?

    Wanna do one trekking (3d/2n) in northern Thailand. But even almost every guesthouse seems to offer a tour, like a lot of agencies. Which are good trekkings starting from Chang Mai (any recent experiences)? Or will it be better to do a trekking from Mae Hong Son (which one)?
    Will be there in the end of december, need to make a reservation?
