Apple,
The latest post on this topic suggested that the Airport Bus may cost as much as 150 baht now. That's not cheap, so you might just as well take a taxi if you are travelling by yourself. Depending on the time of day, it will probably take an hour or maybe even two if there is traffic to get to where you are going.
The main train station is called Hua Lamphong, and it is more or less in town, depending on where you will be staying. The subway connects to the train station, and you can get a ride on the subway for 20 to 30 baht. The subway also connects to the skytrain, which costs between 20 and 40 baht for most destinations. However, the subway and skytrain do not go to the Khao San Road area, so if you have any luggage or a pack, you'd probably be best off just taking a taxi anyway. Just make sure they use the meter and you'll be fine, since taxis are not expensive in Bangkok. I hope that helps. Regards.
