Has anyone got any tips on where to stay in Bagkok? I think we want to be on the Khao San Road, in a clean but relatively cheap place. We'll probably be staying for one night only. Any suggestions?

Stay away from Khao San Road, it's not nice. I prefer to stay at one of the many guest houses just off Samsen Road which is a five minute walk away. Try The River View down Samsen 1 only 280B for a very clean double room with fan and en suite bathroom.

No that's a different place - the one on LP is in Chinatown -- you can see our review of it here.

Have you had a look through the listings for Khao San Rd on Travelfish?

No, different place mate. It only opened about two years ago and you probably won't find it listed on many web-sites - maybe that's why it's still so clean!

Just remember Samsen Soi 1, it's opposite a 7-11 and just follow the soi until you see the guest house. You'll see the old river view first but just keep on walking because it's not as good as the new one.

Check out New Siam II. It is 2 blocks from all the craziness. Reservations advised. Very popular.

Sorry! It's the Riverline Guest House not the River View. Apologies.
