Hello there! I've been studying in Chiang Mai for a bit, and my mum's coming over for a visit. The guesthouse's I've been staying in are quite basic and I was looking for a nice one for her visit, clean, inexpensive, friendly staff, in an interesting area with good places to eat. I've heard good things about the Kavil, but any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Have stayed at Julie's twice now. Rooms overlooking the gardens are quite nice. My wife and I stayed there this year (2008) and she quite liked it. Is quiet as it is on a side street. Can get traditional western breakfast there or just out on the street can get a Thai breakfast for about 30-50 baht for two people.

Couldn't agree more with teacherdavids, staying at Julie right now and have been for the last few days, I was paying 80 baht a night for a single, (a little small) but still clean and comfortable, the atmosphere is really nice and the food is cheap and tasty.
