i need to travel from patong to ko phagnan on 23rd march any advice as to how i can get there the same day?i have been told via email from the hotel im booked into that i can go to surat thani by private car in just over 4 hours and costing 4000bht is this a fair price?

The fare doesn't sound unreasonable, but there's little reason to do it by private car (unless that's your preference). You can fly from Phuket to Samui with Bangkok Airways for around 2000B and the flight takes 50 minutes -- and once you're on Ko Samui grab a ferry over to Ko Pha Ngan -- the morning flight gets you there with loads of time to spare.

There's also regular buses throughout the day from Phuket to Surat Thani.

thanks for that.I had not thought of flying there and the price is so cheap!!Would i have to book that flight in advance or are seats available on the day?Could the flight be booked from U K before i travel?
