I'm trying to decide on a couple of ideas about where to go after spending a week in Koh Chang, it will be mid June. I'm contemplating Ko Samui or Ko Samet, but I'm thinking that Ko Samui may be a bit too touristy? any advice on accom or places to visit there? - I don't want to stay in a big concrete hotel nor do I want to stay in a really basic hut. Something in the middle.
The other factor is the time element for getting to places, that's why I was thinking about Ko Samet, that it's heading in the right direction for Bangkok(where I will fly back home) and also the weather should hopefully be ok there.
Out of interest, are there any decent places to visit/stay between Trat and Pattaya? - I don't want to stay in Pattaya, but was wondering if there are any nice hidden gems on the mainland, in that location? - soemwhere with a decent beach, that's not too difficult to get to.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you decided yet if you'll be visiting Samet or Samui? Samet is definitely on your way back to Bangers, which is a big plus, particularly if you are looking to spend a few extra days on the beach.
With 5 days in hand, you have quite a few options. Samet is a good stopoff. Ko Sichan might be worth a look too, even if only for a day, on your way back. I usually enjoy spending a night in Trat town on trips to Ko Chang. There are a few backpacker guesthouses from which to choose, and a cafe or two that cater to travellers. I like the feel of the town.
With that much time, you could also consider going past Bangkok and visiting places like Kanchanaburi or Ayutthaya. Both are good tourist destinations, with lots of things to do and places to stay. I guess it depends on what you are wanting to do, and how much energy you think you'll have to get from point A to point B.
Then again, you could just hang out on Ko Chang for a few extra days, and play in Bangkok for an extra day or two too. Those sound nice to me.
Whatever you decide, have a great time. Regards.
Decided (probably) to go to Samet, I think a lot depends on how we like Ko Chang and also the weather. If the weather's ok when we're there, I know it's going to rain, but hopefully we'll get to see a bit of sun, then we may do what you suggest and stay there for a bit longer and stay in Bangkok for a couple more days, that sounds like quite a good idea.
Thanks for your suggestions. Just under a week now, this time next week, I'll be in an aeroplane somewhere! - so excited - feel like a child at Christmas!!!! :-)
