    Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible and/or worthwhile to do a day trip from Samui to Ko Pha Ngan? How long does it take to get from one to the other?

Assuming that is doable, would you recommend going to Ko Pha Ngan or alternatively going to Ang Thong National Marine Park?

    Thanks!

There was no-one offering an organised Phangan daytrip last time I was on Samui, but that is some time ago.
But sure it is possible. I reckon one way to create most time would be to catch one of the Ko Nangyuan daytrip speedboats and bail out at Thong Sala. However there may be good morning ferries and speedboats from Bo Phut or Big Buddha across to Hat Rin's sunset pier - I think there is an inter-island ferry timetable link on my Phangan page - and of course the little travel agents on Samui will be able to fill you in when you get there.
Once there you could hire a car, or a motorcycle and tour accessible places - stay clear of the eastern mountain roads into places like Thong Nai Pan, Hat Sadet unless you are an experienced motorcyclist on super rough/steep roads. A car and driver might be the go.
Or you could jump on one of the round-island snorkelling longtail trips. The Samui travel agents could probably line this up for you.

Having said that, I reckon the Ang Thong National Marine Park is a great trip. Hundreds of spectacular islands, a great hidden lagoon, fantastic 360 degree high/high viewpoint on the Headquarters island, okay snorkelling - and lots of operators on Samui offering the trip.
