Hi,
I've decided to take the Malarone pills when travelling throught the North of Thailand/Lao/Cambodia/Vietnam but the prices here in the UK are really expensive. Will I be able to buy them in Bangkok at a cheaper price, and is this wise??
Cheers

Personally I wouldn't recommend taking malaria pills unless you're planning long stints in isolated rural areas or a considerable amount of time in National Parks, but... in answer to your question, yes you can buy generic malarial pills in Bangkok -- any chemist on Khao San Road should be able to help you out -- note the pills will be generic (ie no brand name) . I'm not sure of the exact cost, but know they are a lot cheaper than in the west.

entirely your call on taking the anti-malarials or not, but i personally have never and would never take them. i think the risks from taking the medication are greater than the risks of not taking them. covering up and using a good local bug spray, particularly at dawn and dusk, will keep you protected and relatively bite free. in any case, your call, but we use bug spray and good sense and have stayed happy and healthy that way. cheers.
