    Hi,
My previous post didn't work ... So, I will arrive in KPG on feb 16 and I would like to stay around Chahoklum to avoid FMP crowd and be able to move around the island with public transports. Hat Khom sounds nice, but the post on Travelfish is from 2004... Did somebody stayed there lately and can recommand a nice place to stay. I'm a women traveling solo and I'm looking for somewhere cosy (I mean charm, not air con!) with a nice atmosphere, friendly people and good food. Are songthews going to Hat Khom or you have to rely only on your feet or bike? Do I need to book in advance at this time of the month, or do the FMP visitors stay in the South ? Thanks !

    Hi Cecile,
Nobody from Travelfish has been back to Haad Khom since that listing was added (Ko Pha Ngan is scheduled for a workover this year). At the time, there was only one very poor glorified trail to Haad Khom that veered off from the road to Coral Bay Resort. So for transport, what most do is walk to Chaloklum (10-20 minute walk) and then get a songtheaw from there -- there are regular songtheaws from Chaloklam to Thong Sala and the west coast beaches.

You'll find the bulk of Full-Mooners will stay further south, but a steady trickle stay here due to the good snorkelling, but far more stay at Bottle Beach (the next bay over). In high season, reservations can be a good idea, but as long as you're not arriving the night before a FMP you should be able to find something.
