Can anybody recommend a good guest house or bungalow within an hour of the Airport? Good guest house would be good thai food, clean comfortable beds, access to the beach and somewhere to get a decent massage nearby?

Thank you that will help. Also do you happen to know the nearest coastal area with accommodation? We were wondering how realistic it would be to expect to get to the coast on our first day bearing in mind that we will have had travelled for around 20 hours and maybe running out of steam by the time we get to Nakhon...

You might want to check the weather conditions in NST if you plan to go there anytime soon. There's been extremely heavy rain and flash flooding there and in may areas along that stretch of coast.

We will be landing there on the 26th December. Do you think it will be OK to be there then?

Definitely better towards the end of December and into January. Check the weather map on this site.
