We have booked to travel to Bangkok on 09 December'08 and am worried with what is going on there!
Wonder if all will be cleared up by then. Any opinions?
Also if things do clear (fingers crossed) we'll be traveling to the islands with n accommodation booked. Is it fairly easy to find accommation once we get there?

The situation here (BKK) will probably change drastically within the next 12 hours. Check news sources then.
If you can get here, my guess is there will be plenty of available rooms to be had.

From the local press:
The government has declared a state of emergency around the two occupied Bangkok airports and police have been ordered to clear out PAD protesters so flights can resume.
Authorities have officially declared Suvarnabhumi airport closed until Saturday at 6pm at the earliest.
I agree with the previous posting - by the time you arrive in December the airports should be operating normally.
According to local travel agents many would-be visitors to Thailand have cancelled their holidays in view of the political crisis gripping the country. There will be lots of rooms available - and guesthouse owners are likely to slash prices to get customers - bargain when you find somewhere you like!
Don't believe all that you read in the papers and see on TV. The media makes it sound like their are riots on every street in every city town and village. This is simply not true.
