New to independent travel - I think I'm a Flashpacker!

I'm a 33 year old woman, travelling alone to Thailand and Vietnam for 6 weeks in March - April.
I'm trying to work out a reasonable budget, for staying in clean a/C rooms, with private shower, hot water.
Not sure cost of food and travel in these countries but heard it's cheap.
Does a budget of $50/day, including travel (not internal flights), accomodation, food and day tours sound reasonable. In Thailand I presume I will stay in Mid. range places around 1000 bahts per night.
Most budget travellers say they do Thailand on $25/day so I figured double it and I should be ok.
$50 a day (I'm assuming you're talking US here) is plenty for a well-fed flashpacker budget. Food in both Vietnam and Thailand is very affordable (and excellent) - your biggest expense will be accommodation and assuming you're not wanting to stay at deluxe hotels your budget is fine. Having a budget of $50 should even allow for the occasional splurge on a particularly nice hotel, or fancy meal.

$50 is more than plenty. I just returned from 10 days in Thailand; my first trip staying at budget hotels/hostals--I was pleasantly surprised. Suk 11 in Bangkok offer clean, safe, basic single room for 550 baht/day, including continental breakfast. Chiang Mai is similarly inexpensive. I stayed well-fed eating where the locals eat. Tasty noodle soups and rice dishes cost about 35 baht.
As mentioned $50 is plenty for your daily budget - even if you spend the majority on a swanky hotel, you will have a good amount left over for food and drinks... nothin wrong in being a flashpacker either :)
Day tours would probably be the most expensive items - for example a day trip to halong can range anything from $40 / $50 up... altho you will probably save money along the way which will balance things out.

I forget to mention that besides $50/day budget, I've also budgeted $220 for tours and treks.
Will use Visa card for internal flights.
Tks
