    Hello,

I've been glued to this website for the past few nights. So informative! If anyone can offer some advice on this itinerary it'd be greatly appreciated. I plan to get the Discovery Airpass to save time and fly between each place.

    Arrive Bangkok 23/12 (2 nights)
    Chiang Mai (3 nights)
    Luang Prabang (6 nights)
    Vientiane (3 nights)
    Siem Reap (2 nights)
Bangkok - Thai island (5 nights)
    Fly out of Bangkok 13/1

Would love to get some feedback on how viable this is.

Looks like a lot of time spend traveling to somewhere.

Can you do it - probably if you make all of the connections but will you have time to see anything?

Maybe I would take a day or two from Luang Prabang and donate it to Siem Reap.

If these "islands" you are visiting are around Phuket that is some more traveling.

Can you do it - yes - but will you have time to relax a bit on your holiday - maybe not.

I would definitely spend the last night in Bangkok and not fly in at the last minute to meet your flight home.

You have to figure out how and where to get your visas for Laos and Cambodia.

    Good luck.

I'd say that is quite possible, especially by air travel. Not by road.

Agree with sirhalberd, I'd shave a day off Luang Prabang and add it to Siem Reap . Which Thai islands you heading to?

Thank you for your posts. I will spend more time in Siem Reap. Can I get visas at the airports?
My initial intention for this trip was to keep it simple and relaxed (but there are so many tempting places to see!) Do you think it might be better to just skip the islands? I was thinking of either Ko Phi Phi or Ko Lanta. I have an idealised vision of relaxing on a quiet beach for a few days but if its too busy and touristy maybe I should just give it a miss?

Yes visa on arrival is available at the airport in Siem Reap - re the islands, you don't say when this trip is, so it's difficult to give helpful advice, but if you're looking for a quiet beach, then I'd hazard a a guess Ko Lanta would be the better choice. No need to drop the islands totally -- just pick the right one ;-)

    Hi Somtam

I'm travelling from 23rd December until 13th January. So, I was thinking....
    Bangkok (2 nights)
    Chiang Mai (3 nights)
    LP (5 nights)
    Vientiane (3 nights)
    Siem Reap (3 nights)
Fly from Siem Reap to Phuket and then catch boat to Ko Phi Phi where I was thinking of staying for 4 nights before heading back to Bangkok on the 12th. Should I give Ko Phi Phi a miss?

Hi, Have you been to Bangkok (or Thailand) before? What are you gonna do there in 2 nights? (1 day?)

3 Nights in Siem Reap?! I think your itinerary is WAY too ambitious? It would be easy 'to do' but I wouldn't want to do it as you could miss out on so much.

You need to have a longer trip or just do a couple of places like Thailand and Cambodia.

    Just my thoughts, :)

koh chang is quiet and big. also you can visit other islands via boat.

you can fly to trat then ferry across

phi phi is very tourist and lanta is ordinary as far as thai illands go

also i would drop chiang mai altogether and do a 2 night tour to kanchanaburi and stay down river at the river kwai resotel. lovely resort in a great location. much better than the concrete jungle chiang mai.

Oh give up! I've lived in Chaing Mai and its not a concrete jungle like some citys in Thailand. and surrounded by Mountains and a moat and giant river thru the middle??????

    Honestly, :(
