Could someone please be able to advise me where my husband and I could stay in Chaing Mai,we will be there on the 30th December until about the 4th or 5th of January. I have tried to email Julie GH but have had no reply as yet. I was hoping to book before we go as I would like to be sure of a bed right on the NY eve period. While I know it's not the NY for Thailand, being the High season I would feel better. Maybe a GH similar to Julie's GH and in about the same price bracket. As long as it has a hot shower and toilet. If it's possible to email that would be great too. Thank you in advance.
While it's not the Thai/Lunar New Year, Thais do celebrate the International New Year and typically have 3 or 4 days off work. Because of that, it is a good idea to book your hotel and travel needs ahead of time.
Have you checked the listings for Chiang Mai here on Travelfish? There is a good selection of places to stay that fit the needs you've listed above. The listing for each hotel will tell you if you can book by email. Some even book online. Have a look. Cheers.

Hi Red
The guy that runs Julie is overseas at the moment therefore takes a few days to get back to you. I have recently corresponded with him and when he returned my 2nd email it was close to a week. He did guarantee to hold a room for us for December and suggested we then email about a month beforehand to just confirm our dates again.
It would be worth waiting to hear from him as I have heard great reports about the guesthouse. Or alternatively just try email him again. If you have problems let me know and I will email you the address that I recieved a reply from just to make sure it is the same one!

Hi Red,
I just checked my emails and it actually took Steffan 2 weeks to reply. So dont stress too much. He is in Switzerland for holidays apparently but his email did say he would be back in Chiang Mai at the end of July. The email address I have is julie_chiangmai@gmx.net
Good luck! I am staying there early December so will let you know how it goes!

Just wondering if anyone has heard of Ben guesthouse in Chiang Mai? FOund this listing in the LP but not much information is given.
Also, anyone has stayed in Eagles house or Banana Guesthouse? I have heard rather unflattering reviews on these 2 guesthouses. Are they really that bad?
