somtam had been giving regular updates and warnings about the switchover for a few weeks now. i suspect it will be staying like this, with the kinks being worked out over the near term.
i had a pretty good experience using some of the new features already, although some of them don't seem to be online just yet.
one thing i have noticed is the spam code/links that are appearing in a few threads. i don't recall ever seeing those before.
anyway, stick with it and see what you think after awhile. its just like anything else and you'll get used to it.
whice font would you prefer, anyway? cheers.

I thought the font - (Looks like Times New Roman) was an emergency font due to a fault on the web site.

yes, that was it. and it appears that somtam has already deleted the spam code/links from the two places i'd noticed it.
somtam, if we find things that may not yet be working as planned, would you like us to point them out or not? i'd be happy to help if i stumble across something but don't want it to seem like i'm looking for errors. cheers

Ahh, not really, at least not right now. I might offer an alternative down the road (so you can choose), but at this stage, I've got a few other things to sort out -- like these bloody spammers!

Hi, Yeah its the font. it seems smaller and i think it is the actually font aswell thats abit hard on the eyes. I think if you could make the text abit bigger it might even it out but as it is its abit small.
Some of the features and that are looking good! Im going be having a look around for a bit so will post some feedback after.
Let test this babay out!!!!!!!

It seems there's quite a bit of dissatisfaction with the font being used. It doesn't surprise me too much, because you've gone to Georgia from a sans-serif font (I can't remember exactly which one). Serif fonts, on-screen, are fine for larger text or short pieces, but for longer pieces in small typeface (such as your reviews or forum posts), you're better off going with sans.
Physically, I can't imagine it would be too difficult to tweak with the CSS to effect a site-wide change, but of course, if the switch to Georgia was a 'committee' decision, I can understand it would be difficult to go back.
Hope this is of some help - love the site.

fivesilver, yes font is probably the main thing people are mentioning.
We won't be going back to a sans font, but in response to people's notes, we will be offering the option in the Member Centre for readers to switch over to a sans font so that we don't serif you all off to another site...
Offering the switch will make for some layout problems for those using a sans font, but I figure that is better than nothing. Might be a week or so before the option appears though as we're having a lot of problems with spammers who have been attacking the site since the new design and we've needed to recode some sections to deal with it. But the font switch is on the list of things to implement once the spammers serif off.
