Has anyone been to this? what are the celebrations like? I'm going to koh phangan in april and the fmp in on the 9th, and there are apparently celebrations for thai new year there on the 12th, would it be worth staying for this? If not would it be a better idea to be in bangkok for the celebrations.
Also does anyone know whether public transport still runs over this period or not?
thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Public transport will still be running. If you're planning on training or planing, book well in advance if feasible.
As for Thai New Year on KPN -- any excuse for a party goes down well there, and I'd expect the Thai new year to be no exception!
