hi i need to be in trat by the 18th of april and im trying to figure the best way to get there avoiding bangkok for obvious reasons.our last resort would be mini bus or taxi. If anyone knows any train routes or bus routes? your help would be appreciated also cheaper the better

Hi Liam,
Train is a non-starter, but a scenic route by bus would be something like:
Kanchanaburi-> Suphanburi-> Sa Kaeo-> Chanthaburi -> Trat
The above would be a FULL day of bus travel, the longest leg would be Suphan to Sa Kaeo (I don't know that there is such a bus -- at worst you'd need to change buses at Nakhon Nayok).
On the upside, consider breaking the trip at Nakhon Nayok -- it's a good point from which to visit Khao Yai National Park...

i drove from the outskirts of bangkok to koh chang and its a very long way, took nearly all day and thats driving-quicker than buses obviously. i'm not trying to put you off, just warning you. have a good trip!
