Hi. We will arrive at the Bangkok airport late at night and we have an early morning flight to Loas. If we want to get any sleep at all, we are going to have to stay someplace close by. I have always stayed on Khao San Road before and that was what I was planning on doing until I found out that there is only 7 hours in between when we arrive and leave (plus we will have to allow time for customs and be there early for check-in). Can anyone recommend a good place? Is it safe to just stay at the airport? Or am I just better off making the trip to Khao San Road and giving up sleep time? We will be two women traveling together, if that makes any difference in the saftey of just staying at the airport.

Many people spend the night at the airport... for some excellent tips, you should check out: The Bangkok section of sleepinginairports.com.
Otherwise, there is reasonably close mid-range accommodation near the airport, the Comfort Suites is a passable choice, though for just seven hours, I'm not sure I'd bother.
Note there are also rooms for hire inside the airport (inside immigration). They're available by the hour.

On my 3 trips to Thailand i have stayed at the airport over night instead of going to a room and have had no probs at all. Food and Pubs were open till around 2am,but 7/11 never shut. A friend of mine arrived last week and told me that there is a heavy security presence at the airport so I think you will be safe. I will be doing it again in 1 months time waiting for early morning flight to Phuket.
Enjoy your time in Laos, heading there for the first time myself-can't wait...

Thanks for the help. I think we are just going to stay at the airport.
