We're looking for a nice place to stay for a few days in BKK. Near Skytrain. Around 600 Baht. Good neighbourhood for street food/markets. No backpacker places, please. Fan is fine, as is shared bathroom. We're hoping to find a place we like for future visits as well. Recommendations welcome.

I'm wondering if you checked out the Travelfish 'accommodation' reviews? If not try:
1. sathorn area
2. Siam Sq & surrounds
3. Sukhumvit Road area
4. near Sukhumvit Road
Cheers

Thanks to both of you. I'm looking for personal recommendations, but will certainly check out these links. Much obliged.

Hey, serendipity, I was just mentioning someone from Halifax about you.
How's the textile huants?
Anyways, if you find a great place for 600Bs, I'd be interested too.

Oh, small world! Our fair trade textile social enterprise, TAMMACHAT Natural Textiles, is going well. My 6th trip coming up this winter! More here and to connect with me off this message thread (and for anyone else interested in Thai and Lao textiles): www.tammachat.com.
