my trip to Thailand is limited in days and i can only really spend a few days on ko phang ngan, my trip was initially based on this party, and i am slightly concerned by the mention of possible difficulties finding accommodation for such a short time at this popular time of the month.
am i worrying about nothing?...is it only really that busy for new years?....what do you suggest?
cheers

hi ffcman,
I been wondering the same thing, its difficult to predict when you have never been before.
Im going to the 2nd december party and I think im just gunna stay in samui and boat over on the night.
A friend of mine suggested this as hes been before. Says boats over are very regular and take around half hour by speed boat to ko phangnan.
Are you going on your own to thailand then?

Hi Taylorosso,
I have been having a nightmare on accomodation, basically anywhere within 10-15 mins of Haad Rin is full. They all have major restrictions/conditions when its near a full moon date, i.e minimum number of nights/when you have arrive or they just jack the price up. I even upped the budget to £40 a night, and still couldnt get anywhere!!!!!
I basically have resided myself to winging it, im going to get the ferry from probably on the 29th november, when i get off 1 will hope for the best that there is some accomadation that you cant access from the internet, if no joy il jump back on the ferry to Ko Samui.
I am travelling on my own, although have a friend of friend who i may bump into on Kho Pha Ngan
Whats your plans

Well i land in the country on the 29th, dont think i can be asked to wing the first bit of my trip...after a full 24hrs travelling Ill just want to turn up and have a place booked ready for me to sleep you know!
Like you Ive been trawling through the websites but even for hotels in Samui the minimum stay is 3 nights, so i think my best bet is to find a hotel in Samui then boat across on the night. Will probably be less hassle than actually finding somewhere on ko phangnan.
Was you planning on doin the party on your own?

Staying on Samui -- especially Mae Nam Beach is a good solution to the Ko Pha Ngan madhouse -- just watch the latenight speedboats back -- they can get very out of hand with pax off their head on a speedboat... can get very messy.
