Hi
I am arriving in Ko Samui on the 31st of Oct '09 I really want to see both Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Tao . Should I go to Ko Phan Ngan for two nights providing I can get accomodation (have a possible on- line reservation for bungalow in Haad Yao...Your thoughts on staying here?)and then head out to Ko Tao for two days or rather base myself in Ko Tao and catch a ferry over for the FMP? It the latter possible at all?
This will be the last leg of my journey so would like to relax and not rush around to much.
Cheers

I'd do Ko Pha Ngan first then go to Ko Tao. I wouldn't commute for the FMP -- especially if the sea is rough -- that's the last thing I'd want the day after the night before!

Yep, Tao to Phangan is a much bigger stretch than Samui-Phangan. I'd stay on Phangan.
I assume you are talking about Had Yao west coast - real nice beach with heaps of accomm, restaurants, bars - kinda like Had Rin was 15 years ago. A fair distance from the party but plenty of transport on good roads party night.
Had Rin east is much less developed - not too far from the party but via more expensive longtails or super-rough roads.

Thanks for the advise much appreciated!
My plan is:
31 Oct Arrive Samui
1 Nov Samui - Phangan
2 Nov Phangan
3 Nov Phangan - Tao
4 Nov Tao
5 Nov Tao - Samui - Singapore
Feels rushed but I would like to do FMP and dive/snorkel @ Tao what do you guts think?
What are the travel times on logtail/ferry between:
Samui to Phangan
Phangan to Tao
Tao to Samui
Thanks
Cheers

Hi bwayne.
I've only been in Phangan and i loved it. I think you could do only two islands, because you are not staying long and you could relax more after the Full Moon.
If you want to snorkel, i found Phangan really good and have lots of beaches you can do it and if you are going back to samui, i would skip Ko tao.
The ferry from samui to Phangan is very fast (in lompraya 30 min) and Phangan to Tao (lompraya 1:30 hours). from tao to samui is 2 hours.
Remember you only have 2 ferrys by day (in lompraya).

Have fun
