Silly question, but just wondering where any liquor stores are situated on the islands (common sense tells me yes but i haven't found any info).
Since alcohol seems to be the biggest expense, It would be a cheap and SAFE alternative. Cheers for any info!

there are several more brands of beer now in thailand than you'll probably remember from back in '03. all that competition has kept prices down. it seems to me that i saw lots of guys walking out of shops like 7/11 with 3 large bottles of beer, bought during various specials, for as little as 100 baht or so. anyway, prices shouldn't be all that much more overall for beer than you paid a few years back. have fun, and have a "cheers" beer for me on NYE on samui if you don't mind. cheers.
a large chang costs at least 50 b. in bars, about 27b. in shops-like 7/11-
bear in mind that booze -buying is regulated now i. thailand.like: between 11"am, and 16"pm there is no chance of getting a beer in a 7/11!

The goverment changed the prohibited time now. It's between 2pm and 5pm. so keep your frigde cool and well filled. P.S.: Singha light is a good possibility to keep the alcohol level a bit down and it tasts not bad...
