Vientian from southern thailand..

    whats the best option for me to get to Vientian from southern thailand [ malay border]. i dont want to end up taking a 2 day bus/train ride. any cheap airfare from the southern region?

    Get to Hat Yai from the border, then take a cheap flight to Bangkok and then another to Udon Thani from where you can get a bus to Nong Khai and the border with Laos for Vientiane . With the right flight connections you should be able to do it in a day.

    Other option is to backtrack to KL and fly direct to Vientiane from there with AirAsia.
