Hi everyone
Just checking- am getting a fare of about B3500 for 2 if I book the CHiang mai- Bkk one way afternoon flight here in S'pore.
Can I expect a subtsantially cheaper one if I buy the ticket only once I get into Bangkok?
Its obviously easier and less time consuming (on the trip) to buy it before I leave, but if the difference is big, it might not...
nok air's best deal is about 1,700 baht per person (including taxes and surcharges) for the bangkok to chiang mai run. thai air asia comes in a bit cheaper at roughly 1,450 baht per person on that same route. i can't imagine getting the flight for much less than those fares, even if you were in bangkok. i think i'd book ahead if i knew what day i wanted to travel.

hey exacto
thanks.
I think we're going to go ahead and book it. its a couple of hundred baht more if i book it via the call centre here in Sing, but i guess its worth it so one doesnt fret & waste time once in bkk..
i couldn't agree more that a bit more money to sort out a detail ahead of time is well worth it. plus, why not get everything arranged now so you won't waste time on your vacation doing it then.
on these airfares. the actual ticket price is unbelievable cheap. but the fuel and other surcharges add up. even so, it is still a great deal.
i guess this means you've given up on taking the overnight train. cheers.

hey exacto.
in fact, the train is still on. We are doing the Bkk-CM leg by train, and only flying the way back. A return ticket anyway just doubles the cost, so we arent losing out in that way.
The train is very much on- will just figure out which one when we get there- keen on a non-a/c sleeper but I have a feeling the (perfectly timed)7.35pm one has only a/c sleepers.....
