I am flying into Thailand in a weeks time. We were only spending two days in Bangkok before we traveling overland to Cambodia, would it still be safe to do this?
The Australian government website advisors against travel to Thailand...
So now I don't know what to do!! I am sure there are other Travel Fish people who are in the same position, what are other peoples suggestions?
Things are at their very early stages, so I wouldn't be postponing your travel just yet -- keep abreast of developments -- the story is still breaking, and the important thing will be how the King reacts -- I'm yet to see a reaction from him, though I assume he got our of bed, rubbed his eyes and groaned "Oh not again -- don't these clowns learn?"
Everything 's OK on the Eastern Front............................
.............................................................or so it seems
Well I've just been watching the 6 o'clock (18:00hrs 1+GMT) news on the BBC's news 24 Channel and it took around 25 minutes before they mentioned Thailand.

This must have been the most convienient and entertaining Thai coup ever!
I was stopping in Yala on my visa run way down to Sungai Kalok when i heard it on the news and was a bit worried when i got out of the hotel the next day,
but live went on as if nothing had happened and on the second day people were posing in front of the tanks in BK for photos.

It appears the King has come out supporting the coup which means that saving some complete meltdown, things should settle down pretty quickly.
