Is this possible or not?? www gives a bit contradictive info about this. Is the Lao Airlines the only carrier at the moment when Thai Air has closed their operations on that route??
Another issue as well; I will be traveling in Thailand + Laos on June. What the weather will be like. My intention is to spend first two weeks in norhtern part of Thailand and visit Laos too.
Last two weeks in islands but don't know yet where due to monsoon season. My thoughts at the moment: Koh Chang and Koh Samet possibly, but Koh Tao for diving for sure. I quess that Andaman side is out of the question??
Thanks for the tips in advance!!

hi pkk,
the best i can determine is that Lao Airlines is making the Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang flight and v.v. 3 times per week (Tu, Fri, Sun) for about $100 one way.
weather should still be okay in the June timeframe, as the rainy season usually strikes a bit later in the year. usually. hopefully you'll be fine, and even if the rainy season comes early, it rarely rains all day long.
as for your last two weeks, that time of year the islands in the gulf (Samui, Phangan, Tao) tend to have better weather than the andaman sea side. samet is said to be dryer year round, with less rain, but it always seems to rain when i go there. koh chang might be a bit rainy that time of year, but smaller crowds and lower prices might make it worth it. have a great trip.

For weather and seasonal information, try taking a look at our intereactive weather map. While it only covers Thailand, it may be of use for the islands part of your trip.
