Well, you need to take a ferry to the island. What time does your flight arrive in Phuket ?
If your flight arrives in the afternoon or evening, it might be quite rushed to get to Phi Phi the same day. I'd imagine the easiest thing to do would be:
1. Arrive at airport
2. Transfer to Phuket Town / Patong / Chalong (best location for ferry travel - price will include free transfer to ferry)
3. Arrange ferry to Koh Phi Phi with any of the travel agencies
4. Overnight in Phuket Town/Patong/Chalong. Ferry to Phi Phi the next morning.
Or, do you actually have the hotel on Phi Phi booked for the same day that you arrive?
If your flight arrives early, you could try to get to the island the same day. The only thing is that ferry tickets are usually bought a day or 2 in advance in person... Maybe you could contact your hotel about having them help you reserve a couple places on a ferry?

hi there
thanks for the reply
my flight from Bangkok gets in to Phuket at 09.15, we are staying at the Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort & Spa (49 Moo 8 | T. Aonang, A. Muang Krabi, Ko Phi Phi Don 81000, Thailand)
is it still best to get a ferry from phuket town ... is there no way of getting a transfer from the airport directly ?
You can take a taxi directly from the airport to Rassada pier. You can buy your tickets there. If you want to have a spot on a certain ferry at a certain time, it's advisable to find a travel agent in Phuket who can arrange this for you. If you don't mind taking it easy and buying tickets for the next ferry with available space, don't worry.

You don't say what time of year you are visiting but during peak season, Island Village have for many years run a compulsory speedboat transfer from Phuket . The following is from the resorts website
''During : 1st October 2009 - 31st May 2010 & 1st July 2010 - 30th September 2010, Phi Phi Island Village provides a compulsory sea transfer twice daily departing at 11.30 and 16.00 hrs. from Ao Po Grand Marina direct to the Resort. A return service departs the Resort directly to Phuket at 08:30 and 14:00 hrs. The sea transfer one-way will take approximately 1hr & 15:min''
Public ferry times departing Phuket are 08.30, 13.30, and 14.30.
If you want completely hassle free, then you can book the transfer all the way through from the airport to Island Village by contacting the resort.

Here --- it looks like you can book this one at 13:30 directly online. You should have no problem getting to the pier by then if you take a taxi.
