I will be in Phuket for two days in December and am looking for a reasonably priced hotel (1500 - 2500 THB per night) on a nice beach away from the "seediness" one finds in places like Patong.
Any recommendations?
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
Karon beach is a good option. It's pretty close to Patong and Kata, the more lively beaches, but it still has a nice atmosphere and great restaurants along the beach front. The hotels located off the main road, away from the beach tend to be better value for money.

We stayed at Kata Sea Breeze, a lovely resort with reasonable prices on Kata Beach, close to Karon. Quiet, safe, nice.

My favorite laid back beach is Kamala. If you're going soon, try www.latestays.com for discounted hotel rates within the next 2 weeks. It's great and helps cut down on the peak season expenses.
