I have booked flights to Surat Thani and want to travel up to Kao Sok national park for a mini tour. Is it easy to get there and what is the best way/how long does it take? Would we need to book any transport in advance? Private transfer there we have been offered £40 with the tour co. We are then travelling to the half moon party - best way to get to Phan Ngan from there please? Private co has offered us £55 for this leg. Also we will be hanging around at the park by ourselves the first night before the tour - does anyone know where to stay/if there is anything worth doing?

PS the tour price we are looking at is £165 each for 3 nights - 2 in treehouse and 1 in rafthouse, plus jungle trek/elephant ride/food- know if this is reasonable? Ta!

Hi Norel,
That strikes me as quite expensive -- but would depend a lot on the standard of accommodation.
There is no need to get private transport -- buses leave from Surat Thani bus station throughout the day heading past the National Park entrance. You need a bus headed to Takua Pa -- ask around at the bus station.
