Hello
We will be travelling through Laos and Thailand in Jan/Feb 2007 and are looking forward to experiencing the wonderful food in both countries. We notice though that guide books and Travelfish consider salads and fruit drinks are high risk and I understand why ( water etc ). And yet in the food sections the writers rave about these foods and they appear to be an important part of the cuisines of both countries. So should we play it safe and not eat and drink salads and fruit drinks ( in markets etc ) or go for it.
Thanks for any advice and thanks for the great site - its been our greatest resource in preparing for our trip.

Hello
At the end of our trip to Thailand we will be staying on Koh Chang but would like to spend 4/5 days in the north-east ( visit Khao Yai National Park , ruins at Phanom Rung ) before flying home to Australia on March 5. From Trat would the best plan be to get a bus to Rayong and then connect with a bus to say Khorat or is there any other easier or more direct route ?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
i don't think you'll be able to take the airport bus this time. the airport bus stops running sometime between 11 pm and midnight, so even if your flight arrives on time, it will still take you a minimum of 30 minutes to clear immigration and claim your luggage, etc.
now, the bigger question is at which airport will you be arriving. the AB2 you mention to khao san road, isn't that from the old (don muang) airport?
look in the features section here on Travelfish for a recent article on transportation to/from the new airport. it gives loads of info. and to answer your initial question, that time of night i suspect you'll need to take a taxi. don't worry, taxis just aren't that expensive in bangkok as long as you make sure they use the meter. regards.

We are getting into the Bangkok airport at 11:50 PM. How late do the official airport buses run? (specifically AB2 to Ko Sahn Road)
Thanks

Hi itchyfeet
The bus numbers have stayed the same - just operating out of the new airport, so you still take the AB2 to Khao San Rd. Bus times on this site.

Buses for the airport leave Trat at 8.30 and 2.30 and take about 5/6 hours. Easy to book when you get there from any guesthouse.
