    Hi, I'm planning to travel to Thailand next summer (2007) and I would also like to trek through Laos, Vietnam, and China. I'm planning on spending about 5-6 weeks. Do you have any suggestions on a good itinerary I can use? Also, how is the public transportation and when crossing the borders? How safe will it be for a female traveling alone?

    Welcome to Travelfish!

    The best place to start is our trip planner section where you can get some ideas for itineraries.

    Te border crossings vary -- there's so many! Again a good summary of the crossings can be read here -- this is updated by other travellers as they pass through, so should be pretty helpful.

    Lastly, as a female travelling alone, you'll need to use your common sense, but overall SE Asia is a very safe region for travel and you'll meet a lot of other solo travelling women along the way.
